'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Trailer: Peter Parker Returns With A Few Surprises And Poor Decisions

The other day the filmic corners of the internet were all a-flutter over a leaked version of the trailer for the next adventure from everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, Spider-Man: No Way Home. As so often happens in these cases, the studio hauled ass to, ready or not, release a version of the trailer that doesn’t look like hot garbage. And here it is.

As with the last two Spider-Man movies, this No Way Home trailer also makes the movie look like a lot of fun. Tom Holland still has that affable charm as Peter Parker and his costumed alter ego; I continue to dig the sarcastic spin they put on Zendaya’s MJ; and all the rest looks like a good time.

With the last few Marvel entries clearly building up to some multiverse shenanigans, much has been made of the No Way Home including pieces from previous movie incarnations. We’ll have to wait and see exactly which ones show up (surely there are places that have collected all the rumors, news, and illicit set photos if you’re interested), but there’s one big key reveal in this that would have been a cool surprise to see in the theater. Then again, the actor hasn’t exactly been quiet about his involvement. When you get to a certain point in your career, who gives a damn about an NDA?

Here’s a synopsis, as if that matters:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man. 

At this point, they barely need to advertise a new Spider-Man movie, but what the hell, right? 

 

Anyway, Spider-Man: No Way Home opens in theaters December 17. Assuming theaters don’t shut down again because we keep when it comes to the pandemic that’s wreaked havoc for the last year and a half. Which seems like a realistic probability at this point. Maybe wear a mask so we can have a Very Spidey Christmas.
