Oh my. Oh my, oh my. Nicolas Cage battling evil animatronics come to life is more than enough to capture my imagination. Such is the premise for the upcoming Willy’s Wonderland. To be honest, I didn’t need any more than that to put this on my must-see list, but holy crap, this trailer. This trailer is just…watch it for yourself.
Cage makes so many movies, it’s a crap shoot which version of him we’re going to get. There’s disinterested, phone-it-in Cage; legitimately fantastic actor Cage; and bonkers, off-the-freaking-wall Cage. Or some combination. From the look of this Willy’s Wonderland trailer, we’re getting full-blown, unhinged, maniacal-laughter-and-violence Cage. And yes, that is the balm that soothes my world-weary soul.
Here’s a brief synopsis:
When his car breaks down, a quiet loner (Nic Cage) agrees to clean an abandoned family fun center in exchange for repairs. He soon finds himself waging war against possessed animatronic mascots while trapped inside Willy's Wonderland.
There does appear to be much more going on here than this quick description. Willy’s has a long, dark history, there are some teens, sinister motives are afoot, among other elements. I, however, don’t really care about most of that. What I do care about is watching Nicolas Cage go full ham on a bunch of creepy robots. And it certainly seems like we will get plenty of that.

Willy’s Wonderland is one of those films that has been about to happen forever—it was delayed due to COVID-19, but even then, it feels like I’ve been salivating over this for years. But rejoice, it’s almost here and lands on VOD February 12.
