The BoneBat Comedy Of Horrors Film Festival Is Moving Online For Now

COVID-19 has laid waste to the movie industry. Hell, it basically cancelled movies big and small for the foreseeable future, both theatrical releases as well as production. Film festivals have also felt impact. SXSW was straight-up cancelled, Cannes was pushed and seems likely to pull the plug entirely, and the North Bend Film Festival moved from August to October, among others. In our own backyard, one of our annual favorite events, the BoneBat Comedy of Horrors Film Festival, was also bumped back until this all blows over. In the meantime, however, they’ve got something for you, no matter where you live.

People are adaptable, and since most of us are compelled to quarantine, we’ve seen the rise of virtual concerts, virtual museum tours, and, key to our interests, virtual movie screenings. This was supposed to be BoneBat’s tenth anniversary, but while we wait for the in-person event, they want to keep us entertained. As a result, they’re staging a streaming, best-of-the-first-nine-years online film festival.

On April 25, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm Pacific, Steve and Gord will show a selection of their favorites, and the favorites voted on by almost a decade’s worth of fest attendees. It’s all online, it’s free, and if you don’t live in Seattle, now’s the chance to check out one the strangest, most entertaining events on our film calendar.

We don’t know what they plan to show yet, but given their track record, prepare for strange, gross, funny, scary, and everything in between. You’ll have the chance check out stuff you’ll probably never encounter again. All from the comfort of your own couch. The only downside is that this time, we’ll probably have to bring our own beer. Such is life.

The upside is definitely that I won't have to sit through in incredibly long raffle in which I win absolutely nothing.
