Don’t you hate it when an ancient witch moves in next door, possesses your neighbor, starts stealing children, and no one believes you because they think you’re acting out due to your parents’ messy divorce? Yeah, that sucks. Such is life for Ben (John-Paul Howard), protagonist of writer/director brothers Brett and Drew Pierce’s new horror film, The Wretched.

'True History Of The Kelly Gang' (2019) Movie Review
When you hear characters say, “Make a name for himself,” “Rewrite our history,” and “Every man should be the author of his own history,” it becomes clear what a film has on its mind. It’s about creating your own story, your own myth, and telling your tale the way you want. And with an ironic title like True History of the Kelly Gang, it also becomes clear that maybe their version of events isn’t 100% to be trusted.

'1BR' (2019) Movie Review
Where would horror, as a genre, be without cults? Or, for that matter, new-to-town transplants with troubled pasts searching for and finding what appears to be the perfect new home? For his first feature, 1BR, writer/director David Marmor combines these two genre staples for an up and down affair that, while ultimately a mixed bag with some pacing issues, pays off with solid tense, thrilling creeps.

'Behind You' (2020) Movie Review
Even with everyone stuck in quarantine thanks to COVID-19, and movie theaters basically nonexistent at the moment, there’s still been a steady stream of new horror movies to check out. Most of these are smaller titles that were destined to have a largely streaming releases anyway, so not much changed for their plans. One of these is Behind You. It’s fine.

The BoneBat Comedy Of Horrors Film Festival Is Moving Online For Now
COVID-19 has laid waste to the movie industry. Hell, it basically cancelled movies big and small for the foreseeable future, both theatrical releases as well as production. Film festivals have also felt impact. SXSW was straight-up cancelled, Cannes was pushed and seems likely to pull the plug entirely, and the North Bend Film Festival moved from August to October, among others. In our own backyard, one of our annual favorite events, the BoneBat Comedy of Horrors Film Festival, was also bumped back until this all blows over. In the meantime, however, they’ve got something for you, no matter where you live.

'Butt Boy' (2019) Movie Review
Yes, this movie is called Butt Boy. Really. But it’s not what you think. Okay, it’s kind of what you think, but it’s also something very different than that.

'Porno' (2019) Movie Review
If you lament the lack of graphic genital torture or exploded testicles in modern horror cinema, you’re in luck. First time director Keola Racela’s Porno has the cure for what ails you. It also has demons, repressed religious nerds, an uptight straight edge kid, and more Encino Man references than one might initially expect. Gory, ridiculous, and often legitimately scary, it’s a perfect movie to watch late at night, preferably with a rowdy, intoxicant-lubricated crowd.

'Sea Fever' (2019) Movie Review
As everyone is forced to shelter in place, often in close quarters with other people and with few options for avoiding them, it feels like the ideal moment to release Neasa Hardiman’s cramped, sci-fi horror film Sea Fever. Throw a parasitic infection into a claustrophobic situation, add a character pleading with a group of people to remain in quarantine, and it all seems rather of-the-moment.

'We Summon The Darkness' (2019) Movie Review
Ah, the Satanic Panic. That sweet, sweet era of the 1980s when the whole country was worried about devil-worshipping metalheads performing ritual sacrifices to appease their dark lord. Good times. (Unless you were on the receiving end of the widespread harassment, which sucked.) Anyway, such is the setting for We Summon the Darkness, the latest horror offering from My Friend Dahmer director Marc Meyers.
'Extraction' Trailer: Chris Hemsworth Kills So Many People For Netflix
There’s a proud tradition of stunt performers becoming badass action directors. David Leitch, Chad Stahelski, Nash Egerton, Scott Waugh, and now Sam Hargrave. He cut his teeth coordinating fights for tons of movies, most notably as of late, the likes of Captain America: Winter Soldier, Thor: Ragnarok, and Atomic Blonde, among others. Now he’s getting the chance to helm a feature of his very own, reuniting with key players from his Marvel days. Check out the first trailer for Extraction.
