And the Stephen King cinematic renaissance continues. In our new quest to adapt every last iota of the horror master’s work, here comes In the Tall Grass, based on a novella by King and his son, Joe Hill, who is a badass horror writer in his own right. Written and directed by Vincenzo Natali (Splice), Netflix dropped the first trailer. True to form, it’s creepy and strange and everything is not as it initially appears. Check it out below.

The plot of In the Tall Grass sounds simple: a brother and sister hear a voice calling for help in a field. They enter said field looking to provide the requested help. Things go bad. As we see in this trailer, the situation isn’t as simple as it sounds.
I haven’t read In the Tall Grass, but from what I’ve heard, it’s very, very gruesome and brutal, even by King and Hill standards. From that perspective, it also sounds like a good match for Natali and his particular sensibilities. With the we’re-trapped-and-can’t-escape thing going on, there’s a definite tonal and thematic connection to the director’s Cube, which I’m not mad at. And the blood cloud/crow aesthetics are spooky as hell.
Here’s a synopsis:
When siblings Becky and Cal hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass, they venture in to rescue him, only to become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them. Cut off from the world and unable to escape the field’s tightening grip, they soon discover that the only thing worse than getting lost is being found.
In the Tall Grass stars Patrick Wilson, Laysla De Olivera, Avery Whitted, Will Buie Jr., Tiffany Helm, Rachel Wilson, and Harrison Gilbertson. Netflix unleashes the scary field upon the world on October 4, but before then, it plays at Fantastic Fest, which kicks off later this week.
I wish for the great of success in all of our destiny endeavors
