Here’s some good news to get you through day. The gory, high
school zombie Christmas musical Anna and the Apocalypse finally
found a distributor.
Deadline reports that Orion Pictures has picked up the North
American and Latin American distribution rights to Scottish director John
McPhail’s Anna and the Apocalypse. They also plan to release
it this year around the holidays. So if you’re in the mood for a bloody earworm
around Christmas 2018, you are in luck.
Anna and the Apocalypse caused a great
rumble this past fall at Fantastic Fest. And I mean, come on, it’s a horror
holiday musical, what’s not to love about that set up? I haven’t seen it, but
it’s apparently a total blast and full of gore and catchy tunes.
Here’s a synopsis:
When a zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven, Anna and her high school pals must fight, sing and slash their way to survival. Teaming with her best friend John, Anna and her crew try to save family and faculty alike as they encounter zombified snowmen, a manic bachelor party and teenage hormones. But they soon discover that no one is safe in this new world, and the only people they can truly rely on are each other.
Around the same time it debted, Anna and the
Apocalypse also dropped a gleefully splatter-filled trailer.
Seriously, it has dance numbers, beheadings, horny teens, and so much more good
stuff.
Anna and the Apocalypse stars Ella Hunt,
Mark Benton, Paul Kay, Sarah Swire, Malcom Cumming, Ben Wiggins, Christopher
Leveaux, and Marli Siu. There’s no hard and fast release date set just yet, but
the report says the plan is to set a holiday release. That may be way off in
the distance right now, but considering the alternative, I’ll take it.
