Scott Adkins To Kick Everyone In The Head, In Space, In Sci-Fi Actioner 'Incoming'

Seriously, does Scott Adkins ever sleep? Every time I turn on the computer I feel like I see news that he’s headlining a new low-budget actioner, and he still has time to show up in big shit like Doctor Strange. Not that I’m complaining, the world needs as many Scott Adkins movies as we can get, and his new sci-fi thriller, Incoming, sounds awesome.

Deadline reports that Adkins has joined the already-in-production Incoming, which is currently filming in Belgrade, Serbia. The story takes place in an International Space Station that’s been converted into a prison. And “[w]hen the imprisoned terrorists take over the Station and turn it into a missile aimed at Moscow, only a shuttle pilot and a rookie doctor can stop them.”

Scott Adkins will play a rogue CIA spook who “has his own plans for the station and the terrorists within.” Which I believe is shorthand for, “Scott Adkins kicks the crap out of a bunch of space villains.” All in all, this sounds like a production much less likely than Lockup to be sued by John Carpenter for ripping of Escape From New York.

One of the world’s preeminent DTV badasses, Adkins joins a cast that includes Alaa Safi, who appeared with him in Doctor Strange, Michelle Lehane (Kill Ratio), Arkie Reece (The Bourne Ultimatum), Dominic Power (Unforgotten—is that even a word?), and Milorad Kapor (Skyfall, and actually Lockout, so maybe he has a preferred type of story).

Eric Zaragoza, who has a long history as an assistant director on movies with titles like Jurassic School and Sympathy, Said the Shark, makes his directorial debut with Incoming. He’ll work from a script by Rick Benattar, Jorge Saralegui, and Nigel Thomas, who are all much more prolific as producers than they are as writers, so we’ll see how that shakes out. Then again, I feel like this movie has other priorities that tight narrative precision.

All in all, Incoming sounds very much like a low-budget genre actioner with a very niche audience. I am going to watch the shit out of this, but I have the distinct impression that most of the movie-going populace will never know it exists. And that’s a damn shame.

Incoming is in the works now. XLrator Media has the North American rights and there’s a vague, 2018 release date on the books. In the meantime, we have like a thousand Scott Adkins joints to look forward to, like Savage Dog, Triple Threat, Boyka: Undisputed, and many more.
