The 2016 Seattle Film Awards Winners

2016 saw the establishment of the Seattle Film Nerd Party Club (actually, it’s the Seattle Film Critics Society, but I’m going to keep using my preferred moniker until it sticks, so get used to it). And like every other critic’s group, we have our own awards. The nominations came down a while back, but today brings the announcement of the winners of the 2016 Seattle Film Awards (I have my fingers crossed for a live cable-access telecast hosted by the ghost of J.P. Patches for next year).

To be fair, this isn’t all that new. This same loose conflagration of Seattle-based critics has voted for these awards for the past few years. Still, this marks the year where we rise as a unit and make the world quiver beneath the boot of the might SFCS. Or something along those lines.

As is usually the case, I voted for some of these, I did not vote for others. Some choices I endorse whole-heartedly, others I’m like, what the hell are you fools thinking? We have a weird, eclectic, highly opinionated collection of film nerds and cinematic obsessives to cull from, so there are bound to be at least a few head-scratchers to be found.
