When you think of international horror, Turkey may not be the
first name that pops up, but lately there has been a terrifying wave of
crazy-ass genre fare from the Eurasian nation that’s made many aficionados take
notice. Watch Baskin, just do it. You may not know Alper
Mestçi yet, but you may want to take notice and check out the trailer for the
director’s latest, Üç Harfliler 3.
Alper Mestçi got in on the horror game with 2007’s
Musallat, and his Siccin 2 dropped last
year. This trailer for Üç Harfliler 3 features many
familiar, blood-chilling elements from his earlier films.
You’ve got rural superstition, spooky village folk lore,
swooping shadows, and creeping dread of all varieties. It certainly appears
that this is what Mestçi does, and what he does is eerie and unsettling as all
hell.
I don’t know if or when the rest of the world will be able
to lay eyes on Üç Harfliler 3, but hopefully it will be
sooner rather than later.
