To be honest, I’m really looking forward to X-Men: Apocalypse—the last two installments were fantastic—and I’m going to
watch the crap out of it, but what we’ve seen from the movie thus far has been
a tad underwhelming. That includes the new trailer that dropped this morning.
It’s fine, there’s nothing particularly wrong with this new trailer. I
have to admit there are cool moments, especially the stuff with Psylocke
hacking and slashing her way through a flying car. While all the bells and
whistles are present and accounted for, and though it checks off all the boxes,
there’s just nothing particularly exciting to be found. I watched this,
shrugged my shoulders, and went on about my business without being thrilled in
any measurable way.
Perhaps this is due to superhero fatigue—it’s hard to get
too giddy about yet another trailer for yet another superhero movie as we’re
smack in the middle of superhero season—or perhaps it’s just a bit too
familiar, but there’s something about X-Men: Apocalypse that
just isn’t moving me at this stage.
That said, I’m still going to be there opening days dressed
like an asshole and whooping like crazy when X-Men:
Apocalypse opens on May 27. Check out the trailer below.
