It isn’t much, but the latest Captain America: Civil War trailer gives fans exactly what they want: our first
glimpse of the latest incarnation of Spider-Man. Yes, the Wall-Crawler shows up
at the end of the new preview. Check it out after the jump.
Personally, I kind of wish Marvel had kept him out of the
promotion entirely. Don’t get me wrong, it was cool to see him, but he looks
like Spider-Man, acts like Spider-Man, and sounds like Tom Holland playing
Spider-Man. I know fans have been clamoring for a look, but if they’d left it
until we all sat down in the theater, it would have been one of
those moments. You know the ones, like when Han and
Chewbacca hit the deck of the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A moment where the entire audience erupts in unison.
I’m sure it’ll still happen, but it could have had more impact.
And for my money, the stuff with Chadwick Boseman’s Black
Panther is way, way more exciting than the Spidey scene. We’ve had a
lot of Spider-Man in recent years, and while I have faith this one
will be better than the last few, but Black Panther’s presence is historic.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters
on May 6.
