You know what, being in a band and being on tour sucks. It’s
not all Almost Famous and epic parties and groupies and rock
and roll. It’s endless driving, sleeping in your van, being broke as hell, and
finding yourself in dicey situations far from anyone who might come to your
aid. And no tour has ever sucked quite as much as the one in Jeremy Saulnier’s
Green Room. Need proof? Check out the latest trailer.
This is a prime example of a trailer that doesn’t rely on
gore to scare the hell out of you (though I hear there’s plenty of blood in the
actual movie). It’s creepy and sinister, full of tension and dread all in just
a minute-and-a-half, and is yet another reason why Green Room needs to hurry up and get here.
Green Room, writer/director Jeremy
Saulnier’s follow up to Blue Ruin, revolves around a punk
band in the midst of a terrible, terrible tour. When they get a last minute
show, it turns out it’s for a cadre of violent white supremacists led by
Patrick Stewart like you’ve never seen him. Then they witness a murder and find
themselves besieged and trapped, fighting to survive. Yeah, this is a movie
made with me in mind.
Green Room opens April 15.
