“Shit’s about to get stabby.” That sounds like the kind of marketing campaign I would come up with, or at least how I would describe a movie I was trying to get a friend to go see. London Has Fallen certainly appears to know its audience, which is basically me, and this new NSFW TV spot is the pitch perfect way to get me to see your damn movie.

Movie Review: 'Gods Of Egypt'

Alex Proyas’ new film, Gods of Egypt, is straight up bonkers. That’s the impression given by the trailers and TV spots and the overall, weird-as-shit aesthetic, but nothing, not the promotional material, not even a handful of strong LSD, will prepare you for the insanity that unfurls before your eyes.

'Daredevil' Season 2 Trailer Is Badass And Full Of Elektra

“There’s nothing we can do but fight.” Those words echo throughout the latest trailer for Season 2 of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil, and there is certainly a great deal of fighting. The last look gave us a full-frontal blast of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, while this latest video is heavy on the other key new addition, Elodie Yung’s Elektra Natchios.

Movie Review: 'Triple 9'

Heists, dirty cops, shifting loyalties, betrayal, constant tension, the Russian mob, more bullets than you can possibly count, copious explosions, an incredible cast, and the guy who directed both The Road and The Proposition. Ask me what I want in a movie and I’ll likely read off most of the things I just listed, all of which figure prominently in director John Hillcoat’s new crime film, Triple 9. All of the pieces are in place, and though this is a solid, grim offering, one that I enjoyed well enough, Triple 9 never offers any surprises and watches like scraps of other crime movies stitched together in ways that don’t always fit. There are shades of Heat, Sicario, Training Day, and more, but the end result is a scattered, if exciting, dark, and passable thriller.

Jean-Claude Van Damme And Amazon Are Doing A Crazy-Ass Action Comedy Series

I have a deep, undying love for Jean-Claude Van Damme, but even I can admit that many of his most recent DTV action endeavors are not all that great (I have hope for Kickboxer: Vengeance though). His best role of the last few years was as a version of himself in the fantastic and underrated Belgian crime flick JCVD, and he’s going to play an offshoot of himself again in a bonkers sounding series. Needless to say, I’m all in.

Robert Egger’s debut feature, The Witch, may be a horror movie, but it’s more of a folk or fairy tale, a suspense thriller dressed up in supernatural trappings. Steeped in the religious conviction and paranoia of 17th Century New England pilgrim life, this is more dirt-smudged tension and distrustful atmosphere than jump scares and monsters hiding around corners.

New 'The Predator' Poster Is One Ugly Mother...

I’m not the biggest fans of remakes and reboots and reimaginings in general, especially of movies I love, and John “Die Hard” McTiernan’s 1987 action classic Predator is a formative force in my life. But since another one is happening, the fact that it’s in the capable hands of Shane Black (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and who actually appeared in Predator) and Fred Dekker (Monster Squad, Night of the Creeps), is about as comfortable as I’ll get. The long-in-the-works project just dropped a new poster and a bit of a name tweak.

'Daredevil' Season 2 Full Trailer Is Heavy On The Punisher

As someone who was horrifically, irreparably scarred by the Daredevil movie, Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil series came as such a welcome gift last year. Dark, violent, morally questionable, it was damn near everything I love from the comics, and all of those elements are set to get cranked way up in Season 2 with the introduction of the Punisher. Movie Review: 'Zoolander 2'

Some long-gestating movie sequels turn out to be great. Just last year we got both Mad Max: Fury Road and Creed. In the years between chapters the filmmakers took the time to get things right and not sully the name of the originals. Others, however, well, they suck, and they suck hard. One of these is Zoolander 2, which is a tedious, tired, brutally unfunny, single-note disaster that took 15 years to get here. I wish it’d taken longer, like until after I'm dead.

'The Huntsman: Winter's War' Trailer, A.K.A. Emily Blunt Rides A Polar Bear

For some reason, I find myself getting super excited for The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Not because I expect it to be great, but because it looks crazy as shit. To prove my point, the latest trailer prominently features Emily Blunt riding a polar bear, so, yeah, this is going to rule.

Ballard’s dystopian classic High-Rise got mixed reviews after it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, but this is still near the top of my most anticipated movies of 2016. 'The Purge: Election Year' Has A Terrible Title But An Awesome Trailer

No joke, when I first read the title, I thought this was a joke, but apparently The Purge 3 really is called The Purge: Election Year, which is…hilarious. Seriously, I thought it was going to be a Funny or Die sketch or something of that ilk, but no, the low-budget franchise is back to cash in on the election year frenzy, and given our presidential options, this may be a glimpse of our future. Movie Review: 'Deadpool'

There’s been a lot of talk about how the new adaptation of Deadpool would work. Last time we saw the Merc with the Mouth on the big screen, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was…not good. And with the brutal violence, sex, swearing, and fourth-wall breaking the character is known for, fans were worried about how that would translate to the big screen. There was a boost of confidence when we found out it would be rated R, and the end result gives diehard Deadpool fans something celebrate.

Movie Review: The Coen Brothers' 'Hail, Caesar!'

Any time Joel and Ethan Coen make a movie, it’s going to be an event that captures my attention, and such is case with Hail, Caesar!. A bouncy, energetic dalliance into the Hollywood studio system of the 1950s, this is a well-meaning romp full of whip-cracking dialogue that only the Coens can pull off, homages to the classic genres of yesteryear, and quirky characters that would become stilted in the hands of any other filmmakers.

Park Chan-Wook To Adapt Japanese Sci-Fi Novel 'Genocidal Organ'

Anytime Park Chan-wook makes a movie, I will be the one at the front of the line jumping, clapping, possibly squealing, and burbling and drooling like an idiot. The Vengeance Trilogy (Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Sympathy For Lady Vengeance) is damn near perfect, Thirst is one hell of a spin on the vampire tale, and his English-language debut, Stoker, was my favorite movie of 2013. He’s not the most prolific filmmaker, but he’s a damn hit factory, and he’s got one in the works that sounds phenomenal.

It debuted and Cannes last year, and we’ve been waiting for Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room ever since. Truth be told, we’ve been fiending for whatever he did next after Blue Ruin, and this looks like one hell of a follow-up. It just played at Sundance and opens for the rest of us in April, and ahead of that A24 just dropped a vicious new red band trailer.
