Bong Joon-Ho's Monster Movie 'Okja' Is Putting Together The Best Cast

Any time Bong Joon-ho makes a movie, it’s well worth getting your panties in a bunch over. The guy is a goddamned hit factory—Snowpiercer, Mother, The Host. But when he makes a monster movie, one with an insanely great cast, that’s the kind of thing that gets you dancing around the room in giddy anticipation.

The Wrap reports that Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton, PaulDano, Kelly Macdonald, and Bill Nighy have all teamed up for Bong’s upcoming Okja, a cross-continental monster movie. There is nothing not to love about that.

There aren’t many plot details at the moment, but the story reportedly revolves around a rural Korean girl who travels from her homeland to the U.S., and the film is reportedly going to be largely in both Korean and English.

If Snowpiercer is any indication, this is just the beginning, and Bong will likely assemble an even more all star international cast than he already has. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Song Kang-ho, who has worked with the director on The Host, Snowpiercer, and Memories of Murder, shows up in a sizeable role. There have been rumblings that Doona Bae (Cloud Atlas, The Host, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) could take the lead.

Even with Pacific Rim 2, Kong: Skull Island, and more Godzilla movies on the way, Okja is the one we’re most excited about.
