Admittedly, I’m a bit late to this party (sue me, it’s been
a busy week), but this trailer for Justin Kurzel’s (The Snowtown
Murders) Macbeth is nothing short of breathtaking.
Violent and dreamy and gorgeous, you need to see it for yourself.
Believe it or not, I do like Shakespeare, but it’s rare that
I get this excited for a cinematic adaptation of the Bard. Macbeth
is his darkest play, and from the notes that arrived after the film debuted at
Cannes back in May, it sounds like Kurzel dives deep into the ugly and brutal
nature of the story. And it stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, with
a great supporting cast that includes Sean Harris, Elizabeth Debicki, David
Thewlis, Jack Reynor, and Paddy Considine. Yeah, I’m going to watch the hell
out of this.
Macbeth opens in the U.K. on October 2,
but doesn’t hit U.S. shores until December 4. Check out the trailer and a
couple new posters below.
