Check Out The Trailer For 'Bang Bang Baby,' A Rock And Roll, High School, Mutant Musical

Well this looks bizarre enough to be a total blast. If you’ve been looking for a hyper-stylized, 1960s-set horror musical, Bang Bang Baby might be just what you’re looking for. Check out the trailer after the jump; I don’t think you’ve ever encountered a movie quite like this before.

Starring Jane Levy, from the Evil Dead remake, and Justin Chatwin (Orphan Black), this slice of Canadian strangeness is part stylistic throwback to ‘60s Americana, part up-tempo rock and roll musical, part high-school dreaming, and part crazy mutant horror flick. With Peter Stormare. All in all, it’s a rather odd combination.

Here’s the synopsis:
Set in the 1960s, a teenager thinks her dreams of becoming a singer will come true when a famous musician is stranded in town, but when a chemical plant leak turns people into mutants, her dream turns into a nightmare.
Bang Bang Baby opens in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver on August 21, though there is no word on a U.S. release date. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on in this trailer, but damned if I’m not totally intrigued.
