It was supposed to hit theaters last
September, but Eli Roth’s cannibal gore fest The Green
Inferno was pulled and shelved indefinitely. Now, however, it has a
new release date, and will make its way into theaters this
September, opening September 25.
I guess it’s possible this is an elaborate ruse on the part
of BH Tilt, part of Blumhouse Productions, like a Lucy-with-the-football from
Peanuts, but as of now, The Green Inferno
will hit 1000 theaters nationwide this fall, which is good news for gore
hounds. At least according to Roth's Facebook account.
Following in the footsteps of films like Cannibal
Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, and really any
exploitation movie with the word cannibal in the title, The Green
Inferno follows a group of student activists who make the mistake of
travelling to the Amazon in order to protect an endangered tribe from
extinction. Their plane crashes in the jungle and low and behold, they’re
discovered by the very tribe they intended to save, but they’re cannibals and
you can imagine the unpleasantness that unfolds from there.

The Green Inferno before September 25 roles around.
