The closer we get, the more excited I am to see Kornél
Mundruczó’s White God. The film walked away with some
hardware at Cannes last year, and just screened and Sundance ahead of a March
27 domestic run, and this harrowing new clip shows a world literally gone to
the dogs, which is something I can 100% get behind.
White God is the story of a group of dogs
deemed unfit by the government who rise up and rebel against the powers that
be. It’s an allegory that touches on issues of race, class, social unrest, and
more, only enacted by dogs. According to some folks who have see the film, it
even takes on the stance and tone of a B-grade horror movie at times, which
only cements the fact that someone made this movie specifically with me in
mind.
Magnolia releases White God March 27 in
theaters and likely VOD around the same time. That’s just how they do things. Check
