'Stoker' Pre-Review

I’m currently embargoed from writing, or at least publishing, a review for “Stoker,” the English-language debut from acclaimed Korean auteur Park Chan-wook (“Oldboy,” “Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance,” “Thirst”). Still, I have a few quick things thoughts on the matter.

Here’s how I feel about the film. The screening was at 10 in the morning on a weekday, so I had to find someone to cover my shift at my day/real job (you know, the one that actually pays). A friend later asked what I thought of “Stoker,” and my response was that it was totally worth not getting paid for a full day of work, paying to park downtown, and the hours I’ll eventually spend writing the review, for which I will also not be paid.

In short: go see “Stoker” if you have the chance.

If you’re interested in more in a more in depth discussion of “Stoker,” there are many fine reviews floating around the web from those fortunate enough to be at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. They’re not subject to the same embargo restrictions.
