He had a bit part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Raid has become a modern action
classic, and hardcore fans of badass cinema laud him as one of the preeminent
movie martial artists of the modern era, but Indonesian star Iko Uwais is way,
way underrated. Anything he does is a must-watch, and that includes his latest,
Headshot. It’s even better that he’s teaming up with the Mo
Brothers (Killers, Macabre), and a slew
of punchy, kicky new photos just washed up on the internet to pummel us about
the head and neck.
Screen Anarchy has the images, which showed up hot on the
heels of the announcement Headshot will screen during the
Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness lineup. If
you’re familiar with Iko Uwais, you probably know what to expect from these
pictures—dudes kicking the crap out of each other, Uwais looking beat to fuck,
you know, awesome shit.
Here’s a synopsis:
Iko Uwais stars in this fast and furious actioner as an amnesiac whose mysterious past as a killing machine comes to the fore when he takes on the henchmen of a vengeful drug lord.
Short, simple, to the point, damn near perfect.
There’s also apparently a doctor who nurses him back to
health (I sense a romantic angle), and Uwais and his team are handling the stunts
and fight choreography. You have my permission to pump your fist in the air in
an excited manner.
Headshot also stars Very Tri Yulisman and
Julie Estelle, better known as Baseball Bat Man and Hammer Girl from
The Raid 2.
Who knows when those of us not at TIFF will be able to see
Headshot, but I know I won’t be the only one keeping a close
eye on this.
