By the time December 18 rolls around, it feels like we’ll
have seen all of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, though it’s
being revealed one shot at a time. Yet another TV spot has hit the airwaves,
and this one features some fun moments, but also quick glimpses of a new
character and another familiar face from the original trilogy.
This time out you get to see BB-8 do a little loop-the-loop
in the Millennium Falcon, piloted by Rey, and a sweet, “Woo,” from John Boyega’s
Finn. You also get more dialogue from Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron, but it also
reveals to as-yet-unseen characters. First is pilot Jessika Pava, part of the
Blue Squadron. She’s new, but you may recognize the other pilot, at it’s none
other than Sullustan pilot Nien Nunb, the former smuggler who co-piloted the
Falcon during the Battle of Endor with Lando Calrissian in Return of
the Jedi. We knew he was coming back, but this is our first look at
him, and it appears he’s still flying for the good guys.
You probably guessed this, but I’m thoroughly enjoying all
of this new footage and these reveals. Digging through it all and trying to
figure out what is going on and what each fresh clip means has been one of the fun
puzzles of the build up to The Force Awakens.
For those of you who just want to see the damn movie
already, don’t worry, we’re already less than a month away. You can hold on a
little longer, I believe in you. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
opens everywhere on December 18.
